Ashes
The clouds drown the sun -
Ashes from a fire swallowing the wind and splintering my skin
Overwhelming fragile lungs
Billowing curtains hung from heaven like corpses dissipated and dispersed
History rewrites itself, murdering moments past
Each step leading to a new string of hours, cracks of dimensions unknown
And the world seems to be ending as we know it.
The fire burns the forests,
Heats the oceans,
Wolfs homes like a starved storm
Warms the ghosts
Absorbs the coast
Blazing ancient maps
Humanity stands paralyzed, watching, frozen
as the silk spiderwebs of our skin smoke and thin and spin into a vicious breeze
and we fall to our knees
empty of words
burning in herds
blurring and spurred into the wind.
